The Small Business Act (SBA) is an overarching framework for the EU policy on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). It aims to improve the approach to entrepreneurship in Europe, simplify the regulatory and policy environment for SMEs, and remove the remaining barriers to their development.
EDA has done intensive work to support defence-related SMEs across the entire supply chain since its establishment. Among others, the EDA’s “SME Action Plan” (2013), “Supply Chain Action Plan” (2014) and the “Guidelines for facilitating SMEs access to the defence market” (updated in 2015) helped to define further measures in support of SMEs. More information is available on the EDA website.
The European Commission also recognises the importance of defence-related SMEs and launched specific actions to support them. More information can be found at: https://ec.europa.eu/growth/sectors/defence/industrial-policy/smes_en.
