Corrigendum – “Protecting Critical Energy Infrastructures” Report

On 12 September 2025, the European Defence Agency (EDA), in cooperation with the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), published a report entitled “Protecting Critical Energy InfrastructuresA Defence Imperative in an Era of Uncertainty.” The report addressed the urgent need to safeguard energy systems essential for military readiness and for Europe’s broader security.

Following its publication, EDA identified that the report contained erroneous information, including references to entities, maps, and international agreements that are not recognised by the European Union.

Upon discovery, the report was immediately withdrawn from the EDA website, and the Agency informed its institutional partner, the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, which also removed it from its platform.

The Agency unequivocally distances itself from the erroneous elements that were included.

EDA apologises for having overlooked these inacceptable inaccuracies during the editorial process of the report and regrets any misunderstanding that they may have caused. The Agency reaffirms its unwavering commitment to international law and to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all 27 EU Member States.
