Additive Manufacturing Village 2024

Under the umbrella of Belgium’s European Presidency, European Defence Agency (EDA) in cooperation with Multinational Logistic Coordination Center (MLCC), is organising the “AM Village 2024 Workshop” in Tournai, Belgium from the 13 – 17 May 2024.

Additive Manufacturing (AM), commonly known as 3D printing, has pioneered a novel production method in design, manufacturing, and distribution to end-users. It has already been introduced in industry for some time, and Armed Forces have started to introduce AM technology as a military capability enabler.

In this light, EDA together with its cooperation partners and MS organised and conducted for the very first time the 1st AM Village Workshop in Ede/NL. More than 240 participants from sixteen different pMS, US and UK, twenty different AM enterprises, academic institutions, and entities attended the event. The agenda was prepared with attendees in several meetings prior the AM Village.

The AM Village 2024 is addressed to all AM experts from Armed Forces, Industry and Academia. AM Village is a workshop and not an exhibition and is focusing on the application of AM. The objectives of the AM Village 2024 are to pursue further the findings of 2023 and to further review industrial AM capabilities by testing and demonstrating, inter alia, deployable AM technology and AM manufacturing methods for different military use cases.

This event will offer to industry the opportunity to identify and to provide “tailored to the mission” industrial AM solutions and will foster cooperation between industry and armed forces. The findings gained at the second AM Village edition will further enhance interoperability amongst Armed Forces and cooperation with AM industry.
