The future generations of Earth Observation Systems will be characterized by large heterogeneity in terms of ownership (national, bilateral, European), type (civil, dual use, military) as well as assets (satellites, UAVs, planes).
Networking those systems represents a key challenge today, and will allow to maximize their overall performance in the future ("System of Systems" concept).
To work on these issues, EDA and the European Space Agency (ESA) have decided to run a parallel and coordinated activity, EDA being focused on military & dual use systems and ESA on civil and dual use ones.
The start of the initiative took place on 5 December at EDA premises, with the participation of Fondation pour la Recherche Stratégique as a contractor.
