As an important milestone towards the new structure of the European Defence Standardisation governance, EDA will host the first European Defence Standardisation Committee (EDSC), a key initiative from participating Member States to deliberate new standardisation initiatives with a focus on their challenges and opportunities for Europe’s Defence.
EDA National Armament Directors in February of this year agreed to adapt the former standardisation group and to set up under EDA Framework this new Committee, which is a decisive and instrumental asset for the main European defence standardisation stakeholders.
The Committee added value is to bring together a much wider audience of high-level delegates from various institutions and organizations in two separate formats. EDSC will first gather EDA participating Member States with EU Commission and EU Military Staff in a “closed session”, followed by an “open Session” with representatives from national Defence Ministries, European Union institutions and other International Organisations, including NATO and EU actors of the standardisation community and defence.
Due to COVID-19 constraints, the 1st EDSC will be hosted by EDA in the format of video teleconference on Tuesday, 27 October 2020.
