Naval Challenges in the Arctic Region

The European Defence Agency, together with the Permanent Representation of Finland to the European Union will host a conference on the "Naval Challenges in the Arctic Region" highlighting the conclusions of a long term analysis conducted by the Wise Pen Team International. 

The conference will focus on the state of play of strategic parameters in the region, in order to propose an adapted European response to the imminent challenges by using a balanced capability approach between sustainability and environmental preservation. Drawing on EU-institutional and Member States' experiences, this event will bring a multidisciplinary approach to the challenges the European Union will face both in terms of capability and policy perspectives.

The conference will also be relevant in the context of the upcoming EU Maritime Security Strategy as well as the December European Council.
