Force Protection of the EDA Member States forces in non-permissive, multinational operations, is a high priority within EDA’s work. Specifically in the area of Counter Man Portable Air Defence Systems (C-MANPADs), the Hostile Fire Indicator (HFI) project is dealing with the mitigation of the threat from low-technology systems e.g. protection against small arms fire and RPG.

Within the EDA Helicopter Programmes, the tactical training of aircrews covering threat assessment and the necessary counter measures is one of the main topics within our current exercises and training courses.

To give the experts of both areas the chance for an exchange of experience, answering open questions and the opportunity to realize synergies, EDA would like to invite experts to an HFI-Helicopter Workshop on 21st March 2012 in the Justus Lipsius Building (Schuman premises). This workshop will focus on operational aspects in regard to the introduction of HFI-Systems.
