Introduction
The EDA Steering Board in Capability Directors formation endorsed the 2018 Capability Development Plan and approved the 2018 EU Capability Development Priorities as a key reference for Member States’ and EU’s capability development initiatives. The Plan and its Priorities will be instrumental in identifying future cooperative activities irrespective of the chosen cooperation framework, including under PESCO and the European Defence Fund (EDF).
The 2018 CDP is output oriented and this will be further reinforced by the development of Strategic Context Cases, with a view to support Member States in the implementation of the 2018 EU Capability Development Priorities.
Objective of the consultation
The main objective is to collect industry’s views to inform the development of the Strategic Context Cases (SCCs), one for each 2018 EU Capability Development Priorities, and contribute to the output orientation of the SCCs. What is mainly expected from industry is the identification of the key challenges to tackle to improve the consistency and coherence of the EU defence capability landscape in each of the 11 priority areas, and options to tackle these challenges, across the entire life cycle of defence products. The time horizon is between 5 and 20 years.
Contributors to the consultation process through this consultation portal may also be invited to further bilateral discussions with EDA responsible for the development of SCCs or to targeted meetings.
The responses received will be used for the development of SCCs only and will not be shared outside of EDA without the consent of the contributor.
Contributors must represent European defence industry. Anonymous responses will not be considered.
