Project: Signs and markings - Part 3: Mark-plates and markings for damage control

Scope: This standard lays down requirements for mark-plates and markings for the marking - of ship safety apparatus, - of the storage spaces of ship safety equipment and devices, - of control devices which create locking conditions, in accordance with BV, Heft 1830-1 on vessels. With regard to manufacturing and mounting, differentiation is made between: - signs on the inside of the ship (SSU); - signs/markings on the outside of the ship (SSA); - signs on control panels (SSP). Doors and hatches of passageways that open to the open deck shall be marked with SSA signs on the inside. Emergency escape hatches that do not count as passageways and are only used in emergencies shall be marked with phosphorescent SSU signs.
