One of EDA's major objective is to catalyse and increase European R&T collaborations, aiming at improving defence capabilities. Activities in this area include Defence R&T Projects and Programmes such as the Joint Investment Programmes for Force Protection and for Innovative Concepts and Emerging Technologies; but in general, collaborative R&T activities are generated within the network of CapTechs.

The European Defence R&T Strategy forms the basis for the Agency’s R&T activities. It sets out why and how governments should invest collectively in selected key technologies which must be preserved or developed in Europe.
