One of EDA's major objectives is to catalyse and increase European Research and Technology collaborations, aiming at improving defence capabilities in the longer term. Research and Technology is a vital area in preserving Europe's military effectiveness.
Activities in this area include Defence R&T Projects and Programmes such as the Joint Investment Programmes for Force Protection and for Innovative Concepts and Emerging Technologies; but in general, collaborative R&T activities are generated within the network of CapTechs.
The European Defence Research and Technology Strategy forms the basis for the Agency’s Research and Technology activities. It sets out why and how governments should invest collectively in selected key technologies which must be preserved or developed in Europe.
The Research & Technology Directorate maintains a network of CapTech experts from across Europe. If you would like to become one of those experts, you can do so here.
The Directorate has published a user guide on preparing Research and Technology projects. You can access that here.
